Frequently Asked Questions

I have compiled the list of questions clients commonly ask about counselling and psychotherapy accompanied by answers.
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons which are causing difficulty and distress in their lives. Sometimes people come to deal with long standing issues such as anxiety or depression. Everyone experiences challenging situations in life and therapy can be helpful in providing extra support and the space to gain greater awareness. Therapy can also give you the tools to change patterns and help you take steps to make things better.
The terms counselling and psychotherapy are often used inter-changeably. Counselling is generally for a relatively short term and is usually focused on a specific difficulty or situation. Psychotherapy is a longer term process which allows you to understand the roots of your difficulties and enables you to develop resources to make changes.
Sessions last for one hour. It can be helpful to commit to the same time and day every week.

Generally, sessions take place on a weekly basis. This can be done by online counselling or at my office for counselling in Kildare.

The amount of sessions will depend on the nature of the issues that have brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve. I am happy to discuss this at the first session but the decision on how many sessions you need is ultimately yours.
The cost is €60 per one hour session.
